Ski Trail Conditions

10/25/25: Ski trail repair project update: as mentioned, we are smoothing out rough areas on the trails to improve the skiing and hiking experience. This means that many areas of the trail are currently bare dirt where they have been leveled. This includes the portion of the Outer Loop shared with the Superior Lobe Chapter of the Ice Age Trail. Be aware that the trails may be prone to being muddy or slippery while hiking, until the ground freezes, especially if we receive rain. The trails will be seeded, but it’s likely too late in the fall to grow grass in the short term.

If you are looking for a XC Ski Trail that offers everything, look no further than Timberland Hills (30km) and Timberland West (2.5km)! From gentle rolling terrain to the screaming hills of โ€œThe Ridge Runโ€ and the โ€œOuter Loopโ€, Timberland Hills offers fun and excitement for the beginning skier to the expert. Trails are groomed for both classic and skating techniques, and also offer groomed options for snowshoeing, skijoring, and fat biking.

Powered by One Track Mind, our progressive singletrack mountain bike trail system offers a wide variety of professionally-built terrain for riders of all abilities. Construction began in 2023, with 20+ miles completed through fall 2025. With more than 30 miles planned, we expect to construct more incredible trails in 2026. If the gates are closed, please stay off as the trails are too soft. Check current conditions for updates.

Enjoy

Enjoy

Timberland Hills can be used for a lot of activities in all seasons! Enjoy hiking, hunting, horseback riding and biking in the summer months. In the winter, along with cross country skiing, we welcome fat biking, hiking, snowshoeing and skijoring. As a reminder, please limit activities on the groomed ski trails to cross country skiing only. A portion of our trail system is also shared with the Ice Age Trail.

Stay

Stay

Snuggled in the woods in the southeast section of Burnett County, you will find a rustic, minimally maintained, one-room camper cabin. Only accessible by foot, fat bike, snowshoes, skis, or horseback (during the summer & fall), the camper cabin provides a basic shelter for people that want the โ€œcamping experienceโ€ without having to handle a tent, or have the weather ruin their visit. Within walking distance of the Timberland Hills Cross Country Ski and Mountain Bike Trails and the Ice Age Trail.
